Reading Time: 2 minutes

I’m usually skeptical in watching OVA’s. Some of them are bad, and some of them are promising. It’s kinda hard to find the latter though.

For this entry, I’ll be talking about an OVA’s series that had been sitting on my queue for awhile, Murder Princess.

Type: OVA
Episodes: 6
Status: Finished Airing
Aired: Mar 28, 2007 to Aug 29, 2007
Studios: Bee Train
Source: Manga
Genres: Action, Adventure, Fantasy
Duration: 24 min. per ep.
Rating: R – 17+ (violence & profanity)
Synopsis: In the kingdom of Forland, a coup d’etat occurs which leads to the death of the King. In the last moments of his life, the King sends his second child, Princess Alita Forland to escape. Unfortunately, while fleeing, a life and death situation between Alita and the bloodthirsty bounty hunter Falis causes the two of them to switch bodies. Desperate for the safety of her Kingdom, Alita begs Falis to return and protect the Kingdom, offering herself as collateral. After a swift beating on the rebel forces, Falis resumes the title of Princess of Forland, leading to the birth of the most savage princess in their land, the “Murder Princess.” (MAL)

Murder Princess was fun to watch. It’s really short, with only 6 episodes, but the story was told in a very straightforward and easy to digest way. I like that. I think my only problem would be the fact that they seemed to skipped alot of content. I mean, I wanted more of the anime, so it’s kinda ashamed that it’s only an OVA’s series.
The characters were really likeable. With the restriction of having only short amount of episodes, we didn’t get to see alot of sides of the characters. But we did see enough to like and feel for them. There interactions and relationships were abit hard to take seriously cuz you didn’t see any development, but its still nice to watch. At some point in the series, I actually thought this anime would have yuri or somethin’. The chemistry between the two main leads were really undeniable, but I can’t make the call cuz of lack of foundation of their closeness.

For a six episode OVA, this animes sure had a good art & animation. Released last 2007, its art could still hold up and it really reminds me of Soul Eater. Heh. The animation was indeed good for a 2007 anime. I especially like the fight scenes, they were executed well.

Overall, this series was short but really nice. I might check out the manga of this anime, cuz this OVA definitely sparked my interest and made me want to see more of it.

Thanks for reading.

    1. Yep!! But I’m kind of having a hard time finding it. If you have heard of the manga, Ratman, its the same author. 🙂
