Reading Time: 4 minutes

It’s been awhile since I released an anime review. Well, I had been busy watching tv series (you can find the series reviews here on my blog) and some idol-related stuff. I wasn’t in the mood to watch anime.
I do hope I’ll lose interest in tv series soon. I am trying to get back into the anime world again. Well for now, here’s my thoughts about Coyote Ragtime Show.

My Thoughts:

I first heard/saw this anime when I was in highschool years ago. I saw this on tv and out of boredom, I watched the whole episode. It was….uuhhhh… hard to gets, I didn’t understand a thing. Lol. Years later, I stumbled on a review here on WordPress about this anime, and the review wasn’t pleasant. I got curious, so I tried to look for the anime in the deep web and was able to watch it.

This anime, Coyote Ragtime Show…is not that bad.

But, its not that good either.

Coyote Ragtime Show is an anime about “coyotes” or space pirates. Specifically, its about ‘Mister” and his crew, along with Franka, Bruce’s daughter, as they look for Bruce’s legacy. In this journey, they got caught up with a certain detective and a criminal guild. It’s a mess, a good mess, like a mix veggie salad when you add some mayo on it or ketchup (not a fan). The mess might be a bit off putting to other people, but for me, its all good. The premise itself is simple and easy to follow, it was just the stuff that just keeps on happening to the characters that made this series looked like a mess on a surface level. The pacing was kinda inconsistent. It feels fast during the chasing and action scenes, but theres nothing wrong on other scenes.

What made this series fun was the characters. They made this anime very noisy and colorful cuz of their distinct personalities. Especially the coyote crew, each of them was like a firecracker. Watching them interact with each other was like seeing fireworks, LOL. I think my analogy is kinda too much, but yeah, its never not noisy in their Katana ship. The other important characters were quite memorable too. I really really like Angelica. She’s bad ass and cool detective, I wish I had seen more of her. Didn’t expect her connection to Mister though, that was….cute. Marciano, on the other hand, I tried to like her as an antagonist, but she’s kinda shallow. Her reasoning on going against Mister was also abit shallow for me, though I do understand why, its just that her actions lacked depth. If the series were given more episodes, we might see more of Angelica and her connection to Mister ,& Marciano, her backstory and understand more her jealousy-ish revenge plot.

This anime had been released last 2006, this series kinda didn’t aged that well. The art and character design is definitely still good, its the animation thats kinda lacking. On some scenes, the animation looks good, and on the other scenes, it looks…..almost to horrible. Its noticeable that ufotable tried some new stuff in animating this series. It was like Ufotable was trying to perfect a certain way of animating some scenes to a point that some of it looked awkward. But yeah, look at the recent anime masterpieces of ufotable, they sure did alot of adjustments.

In conclusion, this anime is not horrible as others say. Its average, at best. It had potential, but cuz of lack of depth on some other minor storylines, it became a mess in the end. Well, at least it had a happy ending.

That is all.
Thanks for reading!
