However, Momonga, a powerful wizard and master of the dark guild Ainz Ooal Gown, decides to spend his last few moments in the game as the servers begin to shut down. To his surprise, despite the clock having struck midnight, Momonga is still fully conscious as his character and, moreover, the non-player characters appear to have developed personalities of their own!

Confronted with this abnormal situation, Momonga commands his loyal servants to help him investigate and take control of this new world, with the hopes of figuring out what has caused this development and if there may be others in the same predicament. (MAL)

My Thoughts:
Wow. Damn. Now, I understand the hype.

This series is really good. I really really enjoyed watching this. I couldn’t even stop myself from watching this show. The premise is quite similar with the other isekai/trapped in a game type of anime, but done really well.
To be honest, I am kinda speechless. Hahaha. I really don’t know how to describe my feelings watching this series. Everything was done right. From the storytelling to the word building. I have nothing to say. There were some minor potholes but I know they might be answered later on (there is a second season after all).
The characters were really likeable, I love how unique they are. Ainz is badass and awesome. Seeing how he acts around the other characters, I kinda understand now why he became the leader of his guild. Can’t wait to see more of him. Let’s not forget his also badass subordinates. Damn, all of them are so OP. I haven’t seen much of what most of them can do, but dang, Shalltear is so damn powerful. Going head to head with Ainz, it was a spectacle.

I do admit, I wasn’t a fan of the art. An undead, as a main character….wut? Its one of the reasons why I stalled and didn’t watch this show for a long time. I was kinda weirded out by Albedo’s lovestruck look, but I got used to it. Lol. Other than that, I’m okay with everything. The animation was really good. It was consistent all through out. I really really like the animation in the fighting scenes, especially when the characters shows off their powers. It looks spectacular. I think the only thing I was bit disappointed was the implementation of CGi elements on some scenes. It didn’t blend well with the 2D animation. I thought it might improve in BD, but nah, its still kinda the same.

The music and sound were definitely a must listen. I can’t even skip the OP and ED songs, it was that good.
Overall, this series is definitely a must watch. I really don’t want to compare this to other isekai/stuck in a game type of animes, but bruh, this is one of the better ones. Its very enjoyable to watch and easy to binge. Definitely won’t regret it.

That is all.
Thanks for reading.

  1. Interesting to hear the art originally put you off. Because it’s my first time hearing about this and the art is the first thing to catch my interest. I think the poster looks badass for example.
