Love Lab Anime Review

Love Lab. This was one of the first series I watched when I got into animes again since my depression. This anime pretty much lighten the ‘moe candle’ in my heart, again, since K-On. This series gave me fluffy feelings and it also reminded me of my past self that I lost during my down time. Rewatching this again made me see this series in a new light and love this series even more.

Anyway, here are my thoughts:

LOVE LAB

Synopsis: At Fujisaki Girls Academy, student council president Natsuo Maki is the epitome of grace and perfection, admired by all the young girls who attend the school. One day, Riko Kurahashi walks into the student council room on an errand, only to discover Natsuo practicing her kissing techniques on a pillow, an act that is neither graceful nor elegant. Riko soon discovers that Natsuo desires more romance in her life, leading her to practice “romantic situations” in secret.

Sympathizing with her, Riko agrees to help Natsuo with her love research. Named “Love Lab,” the project practices the essentials of love and romance, such as bumping into each other “accidentally” and holding hands. Soon, the entire student council joins in on the fun in the Love Lab too! Through their research and real life encounters, what will they learn about romance?

Weaving together funny characters and comedic situations, Love Lab builds a story of friendship and romance, while never missing a beat with the laughter. (MAL)

My Thoughts:

Love Lab is a fun, wacky, moe anime that I really like to watch. The story is about girls wanting to know more about love. That’s it. It’s quite simple, and it was executed really well. The pacing was really well done. I couldn’t stop watching the series before, even now, it still had that effect on me. I pretty much watch all of the episodes in one sitting. Hahahahaha.

This series is a slice-of-life with a mix of comedy, and a bit of drama when it is needed. Its very light-hearted and bright, but at the same time, it also tackles some underlying real life problems that we face during those (adolescent) times. It was around this part where I saw my old self again. Seeing the struggle of the main protagonist in hiding her secret, seeing the need of belongingness of the characters, and just having fun with friends, it all resonated with me. I am thankful for that.

At first look, I actually thought this series would be like the other moe slice-of-life animes that has yuri undertones. Infairness, this one was straight until the very end. The characters were really likeable and I can’t never hate/dislike them. Each one of them has their own unique personalities that would blend well to each other. Pretty much, the characters made the whole series more livelier and enjoyable.

The art & animation were really moe and bright. I find the art style quite soothing in the eyes. And the character designs were really on point to the characters itself. I really really like the animation of the series. Its not really special or anything, I just like the fact that it looks good. I also don’t see any bad scenes in the series. It’s all good. XD

Overall, this series is a must watch. I totally recommend this to everyone. Its very enjoyable and fun to watch. Their jokes and love experiments were really funny and stupid, but it puts a smile on once face.
