Yo! Sirius here!
Episode 3 of the Kumu Desu ga, Nani ka? or the Spider anime is here!
I had quite fun watching the previous episodes last week so, in some ways, I am expecting to enjoy this new episode as well.
And indeed, it was fun.
In this episode, we got to see the protagonist spider wake up from her slumber from evolving. The process took a toll on her so she tried to recover by eating the big snake she killed in the last episode. Damn, she sure knows how to eat. Lol.
She then checked her stats and tried them out. Her spidey senses seemed to level up a lot and there was a random Spider-man reference. lol.
I knew that the friendly neighborhood will be featured in some ways in this anime, I just didn’t expect it to be this soon and I am all for it. It was quite funny too.
The spider, Kumoko, then encountered a series of bad lucks.
I mean, it was bound to happen.
So far, even though it was tough, she’s been able to overcome different challenges, now is definitely a good time for her to overcome hard opponents. And yeah, humans are included. However, rather than facing them, Kumoko ran instead, stumbling into a bunch of different monsters before falling into an endless pit.
The episode then went to the human characters.
We got to see more of Kumoko’s classmates doing some magic training in the woods.
During the training, one of Kumoko’s old classmates, the hot-headed Natsume, who is now Prince Hugo, shows off in class, displaying his supposed prowess in fire magic. He’s quite cocky and based on the reactions of the other reincarnated characters, he seemed to be like that even before. Tsk tsk tsk. He’s definitely gonna be a problem later on.
Randomly, a CGI dragon appeared and attacked the students. Natsume, being stupid, charge first resulting in him being beaten up by the dragon. Turns out the earth dragon is immune to fire so the hot-headed prince’s effort went to waste.
Shun, the other prince and Kumoko’s classmate, got motivated by thinking about his awesome brother (he is simping too much to a brother he’s not related to), led an attack against the dragon. He, along with the other students, was barely successful in the fight. It was the baby dragon, Fei, or Mirei, who killed the CGI earth dragon.
As the students were celebrating, treating Shun as the “hero”, Natsume was really bitter about it. Shun then noticed Fei not in the mood in celebrating. Turned out, the baby dragon was related to the CGI dragon, which led to her obtaining a skill called Cannibalism. This made Shun vomit in disgust. I would, too.
It was really f***ed up the moment I learned about that info, damn. This made me realized that this anime might go dark, darker than I expected and I am so into it.
Overall, this episode is quite full of interesting turns. I was never bored watching this one. I think my favorite moment in this episode would be when Kumoko was trying to run away from different monsters, and damn that last part. Oh boi, it made me look forward to the next episode. I dunno how Kumoko’s gonna survive that ordeal.
The only thing that irked me was the CGI in the episode. Unlike episode 2, this new episode has a lot, and they are times when it was a turn-off for me. I just let them slide for now as I am enjoying the anime so much. However, if this continues on, it will definitely affect my overall enjoyment of the series in the end.
I can’t wait to see more of this anime. Kumu Desu ga, Nani ka? is one of the shows I didn’t expect I look forward to watching every week.
That would be all for now.
