Kumo Desu ga, Nani ka?

S.A.W. Winter 2021: Kumo Desu ga, Nani ka? Episode 1

Reading Time: 2 minutes

To start my newest anime feature here on my blog, Seasonal Anime Watching, I will be giving my thoughts on the first episode of Kumo Desu ga, Nani ka?

I got a chance to watch this one on Youtube, specifically on Ani-One Asia’s channel. Definitely a big help.

The world where the Hero and the Demon King continue to oppose each other. The grand magic from the Hero and the Demon King cross over worlds and exploded in the classroom of a certain high school.

The students who died in the explosion will be reincarnated in a different world. The protagonist, who has the lowest reputation in the class, was reincarnated into a spider. Nevertheless, she adapted quickly to the present condition with strong willpower.

This is a story of she who has become a spider trying whatever she can to live. (MAL)

This anime’s first episode sure was interesting.

I was expecting this to be similar to the other popular isekai anime that is currently airing its 2nd season, the Slime anime. However, this

It starts off by showing us a look at what happened before the MC got reincarnated to the other world. We got to see a bit of what is the usual day of the MC, which was going to school. Then a weird thing happened, their classroom exploded.

I am very curious as to why that happened, but it seemed the anime doesn’t have an answer yet. I am looking forward to it though.

We then proceed to the MC waking up in her new body, a spider. I never knew I would see the day where I actually called a spider cute, cuz damn this protagonist as the spider was hella cute. It was so endearing to watch.

It was in this part where it’s a bit similar to the Slime anime. The spider explored the cave a bit and tried to learn a bit more about her abilities. But the similarities ended there as this Spider anime seemed to be taking a different route, in terms of story.

The MC spider’s personality shines through all throughout the episode. Damn, other than the fact that she’s hella cute, her reactions to everything that is happening around her is so hilarious. I especially love her reaction to her first skill. The moment I heard about the skill, I knew it was a lame skill and yet, her reaction made the cliche scenario really funny.

If all throughout the series the MC continues to be this endearing and cute, then I know I will enjoy the hell out of this series.

Out of nowhere, the setting of the episode switches up and we are now at a party full of humans. I was taken back at this as I was expecting the episode to fully focus on the MC, however, it seemed the change was important as we got to meet the other lead characters of the anime. Turns out, these newly introduced characters happened to be the old classmates of our MC that also died and transported to this other world.

Very very interesting.

The fact that most of them are humans and our MC is just a spider, there must be a reason behind it.

This definitely caught my attention.

I can’t wait to see the next episode.
