With the news about its second season, I found the time to watch Umbrella Academy…and I REALLY LOVE IT.
I had always wanted to watch this series ever since its debut on Netflix, but I never got a chance until I personally got a subscription to the platform (Yep, I didn’t watch this series illegally, I’m a good good gurl).
Okay, my thoughts… to be honest… it’s all over the place.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mean it in a bad way. I really like the series very much to a point that I am having a hard time with finding the right words to describe my feelings about it other than me using extreme positive words. Heh.
But I’ll try…
On October 1, 1989, 43 women around the world give birth simultaneously, despite none of them showing any sign of pregnancy until labor began. Seven of the children are adopted by eccentric billionaire Sir Reginald Hargreeves, and turned into a superhero team through what he calls “The Umbrella Academy”. Hargreeves gives the children numbers rather than names but they eventually are named by their nanny robot mother, Grace, as: Luther, Diego, Allison, Klaus, Number Five (his only name), Ben and Vanya. While putting six of his children to work fighting crime, Reginald keeps Vanya apart from her siblings’ activities, as she demonstrates no powers of her own.
In the present day, Luther is a part-animal astronaut, Allison is a famous actress, Vanya is a violinist, Klaus has a drug addiction, Ben is a ghost only able to converse with Klaus, and Diego has become a vigilante with a penchant for trouble. The estranged siblings learn that Reginald has died and gather for his funeral. Number Five returns from the future, revealing that a global apocalypse is imminent. Meanwhile, the reunited siblings try to uncover the secret of their dysfunctional family while beginning to come apart due to their divergent personalities and abilities. (Wikipedia)
Umbrella Academy is a tv series I didn’t expect I would love greatly.
From start to finish, I was watching the series with utmost attention. It was that good. I mean, usually, I tend to multitask stuff while a series is playing in background, especially if the series is in english, but it was different in this series. I couldn’t take my eyes off of it.
I really love how the story flowed all through out the series. Unlike a typical anime series I usually watch and other live-action shows where they focus one arc at a time, this series had a lot of plots all in one and carefully knit them all together while not going overboard. It was amazing to watch it unveil in the series the splendid writing of the writers of the series. Though I do admit I do have some very tiny tiny issues on some subplots, its pretty much me being nitpicky so lets not go deep on it.
I especially love how the series continues to surprise me with its plot. The twists all over the 1st season had me in awe as most of them I really didn’t expect at all. I mean, if you guys had been reading my entries, I tend to predict the plot a mile away. Witnessing a story that is unpredictable unfold in front of me gives me delight. I love it.
As this is a live action, a high quality performance of the actors in the series is needed and bruh, they legit pulled this one off. Everyone were amazing, even the supporting characters were surprisingly amazing. I mean, I totally forgot Mary J Blige was even in the series as I only see her character being alive instead.
If I were to choose my favorite character, of course, that would be Klaus. I think everyone who watches this series would pick him as their favorite, and bruh, I LOVE HIM. He is not hard to love.
Overall, this series is a must watch. It’s really really good.
Now that its 2nd season is coming (maybe on 2020), now is the better time to watch this series.
You can find this series on Netflix so watch it NOW!!
Yo!! Sirius here.
Unlike my previous entry, this one is short. I dunno why I just find it hard to find the right words to say about this series other than how this series is a MUST WATCH. Hahahahhaha.
Anyway, I think that’s all for now.
