Spread the love

Oooohohohoh!!!

Yo! Everyone!!!

Lemme introduce to you a new segment here in my blog. An album feature!!

Here in my blog, I had reviewed some songs and music videos, so its fitting to do this feature too.

I chose this album as the first album feature, cuz this is the latest album of one of my favorite japanese Idol group, Morning Musume.’17. This is quite special to me, so I’ll be very careful in reviewing this. This was also released not too long ago, so its still fresh. Ha!

I’m still new to this album review thing, but I will do my best in sharing my thoughts about the songs and the music of Morning musume ’17. 🙂

After 3 years of waiting, here is the latest album of Morning musume ’17. I can’t wait to review it. Oooohohohohho.

This album is quite special to me for various of reasons. The main reason would be because I know all the songs in the album are really really good. After listening to the album preview and some radio & live rips, I pretty much have an idea what the songs are (I spoiled myself hard). My comments and thoughts below are going to be very biased. Just sayin’. I love the group after all, so all their songs are good already in my ears. LOL (devoted fan here!!).

Without further ado, here is my review.

Song review:

Jealousy Jealousy (Album Version) (ジェラシー ジェラシー)

I always loved this song ever since this was released earlier this year. For this song to be the first track of the album, ooohohohoho, I can already tell this album will give me feels. Nothing much has change in the song other than the addition of Sato Masaki & Morito Chisaki’s vocals.

For an EDM song, this song is as groovy as you can get. This is definitely a Tsunku-produced song. The rhythm, melody, the groove is so Tsunku that I can’t stop myself smiling and lightly head bang. The song makes me remember why I love Hello! Project songs in the first place. I never expected the rap though. It fits well with the song, and hell yeah, I’m lovin’ it. Bruh, my bias is leading the rap, what can I say?!?! XD hahahaha.

Here is the music video, but both Masaki & Chisaki were not present in here.

Romance ni Mezameru Mousou Joshi no Uta (ロマンスに目覚める妄想女子の歌)

One of the new songs of this album. I never got a chance to listen to the live rip of this, but base on the title itself, I kinda had an expectation this might be a good song. And it is. Its still EDM, and the instrumentals reminds me alot of Vocaloid or rhythm dance game songs I hear. I do hear some orchestra music on some sections of the song, and its pretty much prominent in the coda. This music is not new, its kinda generic to say the least, but hearing the voices of the members blending well to the music made this song refreshing. Ooohohohoho

The vocals on the verses were kinda bland, but I really really love the refrain and chorus. God bless the chorus! It’s so good it feels like my ears were blessed with holy water every time the chorus section plays. I can repeat the refrain to chorus section again and again. I love it.

CHO DAI

Another new song. This one is a weird one. Even through the radio & live rip, I couldn’t understand the song. It had so many stuff going on. It’s definitely weird in the first listen, but I kinda warm up to it. I’m still figuring out this song, the chorus is good though. I think I need to see a live performance of this song, then maybe, I might like this song better than now.

Watashi no Nanni mo Wakacchanai (私のなんにもわかっちゃない)

Oh my!! I had been waiting for this song to be officially released for a long time. This was first played/performed last 2015, when Riho & Zukki was still part of the group. When I first got a chance to see & listen to the song, I really really like it. Its not single worthy type of song, but at least its a strong album lead song. The beginning portion irked me at first, but I later find it fitting to the song. The vocals in the verses was synth and auto-tuned well. I have no problem with it. I really really loved the refrain section, then the chorus. The 2 verses in the refrain was nicely layered out to a point it goes well with the chorus. The melody in the chorus is to die for. Its so good. Whoever made & arranged this song, bruh, you are awesome. The first version of this song, Riho sang as lead and she kinda butchered some of the key portions of the song. Listening to this ’17 version of the song is heaven sent, especially in CD quality. Uuuggghhhh so good.

Here is a recent live performance of the song.

Jama Shinai de Here We Go! (邪魔しないで Here We Go!)

My review of this song can be found here.

Style of my love

This is the first unit song here in the album, and damn its really good. I never knew that pairing the main vocal Sakura with the 2 kinda-worst singers in the group would produce a really good song. Both Haruna & Maria sounds so great, and of course, Sakura sounds too good to be true. As always, she got the really good and hard singing parts, while the 2 members shared simple but memorable singing parts. Its a really really good unit song.

Can’t wait to see it live.

Narcissus Kamatte-chan Kyousoukyoku Dai 5ban (ナルシス カマってちゃん協奏曲第5番)

What is this?!?!?! Eargasms!!!!

This song is incredible. Like really!!! Its addicting, so catchy, I can’t stop myself from listening to it again and again. Its like I’m bewitched by this song. Oh crap! This is bad, but its ssooooo gooooddddd! Tsunku-san, thank you for the song!!!!

For some point, the melody throws me back to the 90’s. Maybe its because of the instrumentals, the eurobeat elements is quite nostalgic, I really really love it. The vocals, as always, is on point especially the lead vocals. I think the only thing that I find as a bummer is the fact that there is no ‘booommm!’ or a really really good climax. The music was consistent all through out the song, even after that amazing instrumental section before the coda. And yeah, in my opinion, the coda section was kinda lacking, not only in lyrics but also in impact. I find it too simple I guess. I wanted more of it, but I did like the “C’mon!” part after the coda. Overall, the song is really solid and really good. Eargasms all the way!!

Here is the recent live performance of the song.

Seishun Say A-HA (青春Say A-HA)

Another catchy song!!! Yas!!! Thank you, Tsunku-san!!!!

This song was made to be catchy. To be the type of song that stays on your head. Every section of the song was well arranged, and the instrumentals in the background is so crazy but still so neat. The catchiest parts of the song would be the last line in the refrain & the chorus. Bruh, while writing this, I can hear that specific part on repeat playing in my head. The singing parts was well divided among the members. Everyone sang well, and were in harmony, which I could say added more flavor to the music.

Here is the latest performance of the song.

Wakaindashi! (若いんだし!)

My review of this song can be found here.

Mou Gaman Dekinai wa ~Love ice cream~ (もう 我慢できないわ〜Love ice cream〜)

Woah! A unit song composed of back girls. No front member, or a lead vocal member in the unit, Amazing. I find that risky and a bold move, but infairness, the members on this unit pulled it off. The song has rock-feel to it. It’s not that catchy compared to the other songs, but its easy to listen. The instrumentals reminds me of Buono music, especially the guitar rifts. Nothing ‘wow’ in here, maybe the fact that the members sang well and were in harmony. I might listen to this, but not much as the other songs.

Dokyuu no Go Sign (弩級のゴーサイン)

My review of this song can be found here.

Koi wa Toki ni (恋は時に)

The last unit song for this album. It had a weird intro, but quite a familiar melody. The arrangement of the song is weird but really unique too. I kinda like it. Its kinda weird too that there are so many members are singing to this song. The other units consists of 3-4 members, while this one has 7 members. Too many for a unit group, I guess. Like the previous unit song, this song has no wow factor, other than the fact that the members sang really well. And oh, I do like the build-up in the coda to the last chorus. I also like the instrumental section after the last chorus, it felt like it was the last spurt of the arrangement. It was interesting to hear it only at the last part of the song, while it was boring and stagnant on the previous sections of the song. Overall, its still a good song.

Joshi Kashimashi Monogatari (Morning Musume ’17 Ver.)

A new version!! Ooohohohoho!! This time, it has Chisaki’s part, Yay!!!

This song is a regular in the albums. It always has a new version released, especially there is a big change in line-up in the group.

To be honest, I have nothing to say about this song. As always, it has a catchy chorus, other than that, hmmmmm… nothing much. Maybe cuz, I couldn’t understand a thing what they are saying. Hahahaha, but i’m pretty sure they were describing themselves. I’m pretty impressed on how they divide the verses though. The first verse consist of the older members, the second verse was composed the middle members and then the last verse for the newer members. Its still a wonder how the lyricist ( I think its still Tsunku) could write a description about each member and fit them all in one song. Dang!

BRAND NEW MORNING

The new era of Morning Musume is here!

To be honest, I really thought this song would be put at the top in the tracklist, cuz of the message and purpose of this song. Its a song declaring the start of a new era, but anyway, its not like I have any say on it. The album was already released. Lol.

Compared to Jealousy Jealousy, its seems like there was no changes in BRAND NEW MORNING. They just used what was already released, I don’t have a problem with it. The song is really solid, definitely a really really good dance song. The song was arranged like a marching band type of song and it definitely fits well with the lyrics.

When I first heard this song, I find it really really cool. I think my only problem with it was the vocals. The centers of this song were the 13th generation, Kaede & Reina. They are still new and it felt awkward hearing them sing lead in this sing. It warmed up to me later on, specifically after hearing and seeing it live.

Here is the music video of the song. Like with Jealousy Jealousy, Masaki & Chisaki were not present in this one too.

Ai no Tane (20th Anniversary Ver.)

How to end a memorable and special album?!?! By reviving a fan favorite old classic song of the group, Ai no Tane. This time, it was sang by the current members of the group.

This song is quite precious to the fans, cuz this was the unofficial debut single of the group. The original version was sung by the first ever generation of the group. The melody is easy to listen and its very nostalgic.

If you compare the two, the latest version still has that nostalgic old school vibe of music that we, the fans, love. I am very pleased by it. I really really like how the current members sang the latest version. The division of lines is really understandable, I have no problem with it. Pretty much, they gave justice to this precious song.

Such a good way to end an album. Ooohohohoho.

Overall, this album is really really good. Its worth the wait. Its even better than the 14th album (I know right!?!?!). Listening to the album gave me a lot of eargasms, I can’t wait to listen to all of this songs on repeat.

If I were to choose, out of all the album songs (I’m not including the songs from singles) my favorite songs in the album would be Seishun Say A-HA, Watashi no Nanni mo Wakacchanai, Narcissus Kamatte-chan Kyousoukyoku Dai 5ban & lastly, the Romance ni Mezameru Mousou Joshi no Uta. These four are really amazing and it gave me eargasms everytime they played. I already saw the live performances of the first three (and I really really love them), I can’t wait to see how the group will perform Romance ni Mezameru Mousou Joshi no Uta. I know its going to be really cool and awesome. Oooohohhoho.

Now, for my least favorite, I think that would be CHO DAI. Morning musume has a lot of weird songs in their huge discography, I liked most of them but this one is…kinda not my cup of tea. I might listen to this a lot lesser than the other songs. If ever I could see a live performance of this song, there might be a chance I might like this… so…we will see.

I hope you guys like this album too. 🙂

Uuuuwwwwaaaaa, editing this took longer than I thought. Hahahahaha.

You might have noticed I also posted both some Music videos and live performances of the song. I just wanted to let you hear the song itself and see it performed live, so that you can judge it if its really a good song or not.

Well, the other reason would be I just want to spread my love for this group and how awesome their live performances. Hahahahahahah. Am I too much?!?! XD

I’m not really a good reviewer. Lol. But I still try. I also make sure I am different from other music reviewers out there. I aspire to be different after all. Hahahahah

Anyway, thank you for reading.

That is all.
