Reading Time: 3 minutes

Shounen, Shounen, Shounen.

I think I haven’t really reviewed shounen anime before. I am not sure. Lol.

Anyway, I recently finished this anime during my trip. And bruh, this was a long one. Infairness, I breezed through all of its episodes very easily. Oohoooohohohohoho.

Here are my thoughts:

Despite this delicate situation, members-in-training, such as Osamu Mikumo, are not permitted to use their Triggers outside of headquarters. But when the mysterious new student in his class is dragged into a forbidden area by bullies, they are attacked by Neighbors, and Osamu has no choice but to do what he believes is right. Much to his surprise, however, the transfer student Yuuma Kuga makes short work of the aliens, revealing that he is a humanoid Neighbor in disguise. (MAL)

My Thoughts:

When I first encountered this series, it was still airing. One of my favorite and a co-ed group, AAA, sang one of its OP songs. I got intrigued. But seeing the number of episodes, definitely made me run away. Lol.

It was my brother, who watched everything weekly, who encouraged me to watch the whole series. My brother recommending is a rare thing to happen, so I watched it…..recently. Lol. Yep, I stalled for years, and in a matter of a week, I finished it. Hahahaha.

The premise was quite intriguing. It sounds familiar and at the same time, quite unique. The story still follow the usual tropes in shounen. But what made this one different was the fact that its not all about “friendship overcomes everything” or “I am so weak in the previous episode then become OP on the next”, the series actually took time in developing each of the main characters. There were no shortcuts in there road to success. But the downside to this would be the slow pacing. It was indeed slow. Remembering everything now, I could say the anime could only have 30-50 episodes, it would still convey everything that was needed to be conveyed. The production team took their time on this series. Lemme change that, they took tooooo much time. If they had balanced out the story properly and still want to reach the 70+ episodes, they could have tackled more arcs of the anime. Sigh. Anyway. Let’s move on.

The art of this anime was indeed a downer. I almost dropped it the first time I saw it cuz of the sloppy art style. It looked sticky and with less effort. I do like how the animation looks, by the way, which was weird. For a sloppy art style, I really really like the animation. I especially love the fighting scenes, it keeps me pumped up and be amazed watching it.

I love the characters, and bruh, they are soooo many. Still, I like all of them. Each one of them has their own personality and unique qualities. For a big cast, I could sure remember each one of them. Though I did forget their names. Lel. Silly me.

Overall, this series is quite fun to watch. No wonder my brother recommend it to me years ago. Lol. It’s an enjoyable anime to watch as long as you have the patience and time to sit back, relax and watch 70+ episodes of anime.

That is all.

Thanks for reading!
