Roundup Anime Reviews Compilation #1
At last! My first ever anime review! Oooohohohho! Yay!
I really like to binge watch shows, especially anime series. You might be thinking ‘Damn, this person only watches shows, does this person have a life?’. Lel. I do have a life, I just like to binge watch shows from time to time (I even catch up to some american shows that I follow). I just have so many free time and I manage my time well. Heh.
I watched most of the animes featured in this post since July, so this is like a monthly review round-up. This is going to be very long. lel. I am not sure if I am going to continue this as a permanent segment of this blog, but we will see.
Now, I am going to give my first ever review in this blog. Everything I stated here are my opinion, so if you agree or disagree, feel free to express it on the comments. I am totally going to read them. I respect everyone’s opinions, so I hope people with respect mine too. 🙂

In fact, Victor himself abruptly appears at Yuuri’s house and offers to be his mentor. As one of his biggest fans, Yuuri eagerly accepts, kicking off his journey to make it back onto the world stage. But the competition is fierce, as the rising star from Russia, Yuri Plisetsky, is relentlessly determined to defeat Yuuri and win back Victor’s tutelage. (MAL)
Yuri on Ice is one of the popular anime, if not, the most popular anime of 2016 (well…they did won almost all the awards in the first crunchyroll anime awards) and the hype was crazy. Even the people I know who were only casual watchers of anime got really hooked to this anime, especially the women. They even tried to learn how to skate, cuz they were inspired by the anime. It was really crazy and unimaginable. I never knew it could influence people to that level, even I was tempted to watch the series weekly. I didn’t give in to the hype though. Even with the constant spoilers in every corner in the social media, I never once watch YoI during its airing.
As you can see, I am making a review now of this sports anime because I already finished watching this show, twice. I watched this anime both in sub and dub. Well, I never finished watching this in sub. I don’t really know, but I wasn’t enjoying the anime at all. Even more, I don’t understand why it was hyped by other people. Cuz of that, I decided to watch it on dub with a Bluray copy, and I freakin’ finish it. I was really into it. I, now understand the hype.
The story follows Yuri Katsuki depressed about his career as an ice skater, then one day, his idol, Viktor went to hos hometown and declared that he wants to be his coach. The wholes series covers the whole season of the competition. The pacing was really good. It features the developing relationship of Viktor and Yuri. I am not a fan of Yaoi, promise. In fact, this show started as a Yaoi-bait then turn into canon, I am totally okay with that cuz the story was good. The build-up, everything, it didn’t disappoint me. It kept me hooked until the end.
The characters were at least memorable. The main cast, Yuri, Viktor, and Yuri(o), were really fantastic as main characters. I was a little bit disappointed with Yuri(o) development. I did see his growth, but when the other skaters were introduced, his MC position went downhill into ‘another skater’. Sigh. The other skaters, especially JJ, were memorable. I really like how they give backstories of the characters while they were performing, it gives more dramatic feel. It was also disappointing that they always repeat the short and free programs of the characters. It was really ‘woah’ for the first time, but it became ‘meh’ later on.
Art & Animation: 6/10
When I started watching YoI, I was really amazed by the detail and clarity of the art and animation. The animation for choreography was detailed to a point I was in awe. Unfortunately, the beautiful art and animation degraded later on the series. Even though I watched the Blu-ray copy of the series, they still couldn’t salvage the decrease in quality. I can totally see the 3D animation on some choreographs of the minor characters. I squint my eyes everytime I see it. I am really okay with 3D animation, I have no problem with it. As long as it is used well and it can blend well with the background art, I am totally okay with 3D.
Well, I totally understand why it turned out that way. It could turned worse, so I pretty much accept the end result.
The OP and ED were LLLLLIIIIITTTTTTT.
When YoI was still airing, people around me keeps on saying how good the OP was. I never got a chance to listen fully, only snippets of it. At first, I find it cool cuz the lyrics were english and it was not cringy. When I listened to it during my binge-watch, I was in awe. It really helped the building up of the story. The arrangement fits well with the opening credits. You can really feel and appreciate the meaning of the lyrics.
For the ED, it has a modern type of vibes compared to the OP. I still like it but not much as the OP. I instagram-like pics shown during the ED fits well with the music.
This anime was indeed a good watch. I now understand the hype and its popularity. If ever there will be a s2, ova or a movie of this anime, I will definitely watch it.

This anime is weird. I find this weird when I first watched it in subs back in 2015, it was still weird when I watched it in dub now. I couldn’t even count how many times I ‘huh?’ while watching this anime. I still enjoyed the heck of this anime. But it was really weird. Compared to other animes in this post, this is the only anime I didn’t finish within a day. Lel. It was that hard to watch it sometimes, but for some point, I can’t seem to drop it. There was something in this show the pushes me to finish this. By all means, I am not trying to say that this anime is a trash. It is a piece of art, a weird piece of art. When I finished watching it, I felt some kind of accomplishment, I don’t know why.
By the way, I also watched this both in sub and dub. I wasn’t able to finish watching this in sub (again) cuz of school and I was more hooked on other animes (bruh, this anime was released alongside Death Parade, Assasination Classroom, Saekano, Jojo, Fafnir Exodus, etc… it was really hard to catch up to every anime). A friend of mine gave me a copy of this anime in blu-ray and it has dub. I was able to watch it from the beginning to the end.
Art & Animation: 7/10
To be honest, I really have no words to describe this anime. All I could give are scores to represent what I felt about this anime. I did enjoy watching this anime, but it was indeed a dragging experience. I am not sure if I could watch this anime again in the future. I am pretty much contented that I watched this fully once.

Premiered: Fall 2006

Synopsis: A shinigami, as a god of death, can kill any person—provided they see their victim’s face and write their victim’s name in a notebook called a Death Note. One day, Ryuk, bored by the shinigami lifestyle and interested in seeing how a human would use a Death Note, drops one into the human realm.
High school student and prodigy Light Yagami stumbles upon the Death Note and—since he deplores the state of the world—tests the deadly notebook by writing a criminal’s name in it. When the criminal dies immediately following his experiment with the Death Note, Light is greatly surprised and quickly recognizes how devastating the power that has fallen into his hands could be.
With this divine capability, Light decides to extinguish all criminals in order to build a new world where crime does not exist and people worship him as a god. Police, however, quickly discover that a serial killer is targeting criminals and, consequently, try to apprehend the culprit. To do this, the Japanese investigators count on the assistance of the best detective in the world: a young and eccentric man known only by the name of L. (MAL)
Yes. Death Note. I rewatched Death Note. Now, in dub. And it was really really good.
Compared to the first two animes above, I finished watching Death note both in sub and dub. I still remember when I was still fairly new in watching animes in streaming sites, I binge-watched Death note in sub., rather than attending some classmate of mine’s birthday. It was one of the best decision I did in my childhood. Watching Death note opened my eyes to the fact that animes doesn’t only have light-hearted and shounen animes, but also dark and psychological as well. It was really an amazing experience.
I decided to watch this series again in dub, because I got curious. I keep hearing from the reviews and some opinions from anitubers that the Death note dub is really really good. I was really curious if I would also like it. And I totally did.
The story is already known to everyone, so I go straight to my opinions.
Bruh. The story is solid, from the beginning to end. I haven’t read the manga so I really don’t know if they really follow it or not ( I will read it in the future). It had both brilliant and bizarre moments.
Speechless. Every character in this series were memorable, especially the MC’s. Damn. Light and L. Wow. Their development through out the series were amazing, especially Light. Unfortunately for L, his development stopped cuz of reasons, I did wish to see more of him. I was indeed delighted to see how Near and Mellow do their stuff. You can really see why they were chosen as L’s successors. Until now, I am still sad Matt had only at least 5 minutes of screen time. I wish there were more memorable scenes involving him. For the other characters, they were stiff (personality-wise) when they were first introduced, but there was development later on, at least.
Art & Animation: 9/10
The art & animation was definitely remarkable, knowing that this anime was released last 2006 – 2007. You don’t see any signs of moe or fluffy animation in these series, unlike today. I wish there would be more animes like this in the future. My eyes were sparkling while watching the anime. The only downside is that it does get boring later on. Even though the art matches the mood of the scenes, it looked dull and dry. The over-exaggeration of some the scenes does makes up with the dullness so it turned out good.
The music were indeed memorable. But, I am not a fan of it.
Damn, I actually gave out a 10 out of 10. It deserves it. It was that good. This anime is one of the best out there. I can also rewatch this again and again. Whether it is in dub or sub. Both are amazing, hands down.
I enjoyed doing this. I might make another anime reviews round up in the future. No promises though. XD
