Seasonal Anime Watching: Spring 2021 – What I’ll be watching

Reading Time: 6 minutes

It’s already Spring, which means new animes to watch!

Like what I did for the previous season, I will be identifying new animes to watch this season. But before that, I want to apologize for the lack of content in this blog of mine. Work has been hectic and I’ve been into writing stories lately so I had less to no time to watch anime.

But now, I am back.

My work schedule is getting better now, and my fic is going steady too.

Now back to the main topic, the Spring Animes.

I wasn’t able to fully watch the previous seasonal animes cuz most of them became stale in the end. On the top of my head, I think I only got to finish 2 animes last season. I am still watching that Spidey anime, by the way, but I decided to not feature it here as I want to focus more on the new animes.

Compared to the previous season, Spring is jam-packed full of interesting animes. I wasn’t able to watch all of the anime airing this Spring, but only those available on Youtube. There is a chance I might drop some later on while watching, or put them on hold because I prefer binging them, so heads up.

After watching each of their first episodes, the animes I mentioned below are the ones that stood out to me the most. Here they are:

JORAN The Princess of Snow and Blood

This anime was the first anime I watched for this Spring and so far, it perked my interest. What caught my attention would be the world setting and its story. Based on what was shown in the first episode so far, the main character is an assassin. Along with few more people, I think they are a hidden org. under the orders of the head of their country. Their enemies seemed to be some politicians that are corrupt or doing something illegal behind the scenes, I can’t really tell much.

The art and animation are quite disappointing, not gonna lie, but I already know that after seeing the PV. It would be cool if its better, but I digress.

The pacing of the episode seemed a bit weird to me, but it did excite me seeing that fight in the end, as I didn’t expect that one. But the animation kind of ruined it. Such a shame.

I do hope I will get used to it, cuz I really am curious where this story is going to take me.

Another sports anime.

I wasn’t planning on watching this, to be honest, but I still gave this one a try.

Infairness, this one is quite interesting.

The sport in this anime is Rhythmic Gymnastics, which is quite interesting. It’s the typical sports anime story where a new guy became interested in a sport and along with a guy who’s already really good, they joined a mediocre team. Of course, to live up to the trope, the main guy happens to be really good. *clap* *clap*

So far, the anime seems interesting enough to keep me entertain weekly. Yeah it’s so cliche, but I can just turn off my brain and just enjoy. Also, I really like the art and animation. The character designs are basic, to be honest, but the mix of 2D & 3D animation was nicely done. Yeah, I can easily see the difference, but its clear to me that the team behind the animation did there best to present a good product, and I commend them for that.

I can’t wait to see more.

Osamake: Romcom Where The Childhood Friend Won’t Lose

Oh I really like this one.

Recently, I had been writing a romcom fic. The moment I read the synopsis of this one, I knew I needed to watch this.

And I wasn’t disappointed.

The premise’s setup is cliche, yes, but the story, especially the title, THE TITLE.

So far, the first episode introduces the characters really well. I hate that the main guy casually rejected the best girl, but childhood bestie knows how to handle the situation, cuz’ she best girl.

It seems to me there is more to the other girl than she let on, so I am excited to know more about her. Also the main guy, those subtle hints about his past and that bomb info at the end, damn, I didn’t expect that at all.

This anime is totally a must-watch for me. I can’t wait to watch more and witness Best Girl winning at last.

Super Cub

This one…is a weird one.

A part of me doesn’t want to continue to watch, but the other part of me wants to.

Super Cub has an aura similar to those Slice-of-life, calming animes like Yuru Camp, and I don’t know if I am in the mood for that. But the dry humor of the episode made me chuckle, so that is a plus. I also like how they play around with the color scheme, every time the main girl uses the Super Cub. It adds more flare to the anime.

Also, I am a frustrated motorcycle biker, so….this is a must-watch to me.

The World Ends with You The Animation

Huh, another battle royale anime, interesting.

I got interested in this as I heard it’s in some way, connected to Kingdom Hearts. It’s also a game, I mean, from the art and animation itself, it’s quite clear. Lol.

Before I share my thoughts about the premise, lemme talk about art and animation. I was expecting this to be shitty, I’ll be honest. Animes released before that had similar animations were really shitty and disappointing. From the top of my head, I could name Divine Gate and Reflection. That’s why I lowered my expectations.

Good thing, this anime seemed to be better.

Not only it had solid character designs, but the fight scenes also look badass too.

I am not really familiar with the game or its story, but the story seemed to follow the typical battle royale formula, similar to Darwin’s game. I need to watch more to really get the grasp of the story but so far, what I understood is that the MC lost his memories, he has a genki partner, random monsters popping out of nowhere and nonsense challenges for them to conquer.

I do hope more information will be explained so that this anime won’t go stale and be a disappointment.

Combatants Will Be Dispatched!

Damn, this anime is everything I need after a stressful day at work.

From its hella funny jokes to the OA expressions of the characters, I LOVE THIS ANIME SO MUCH.

Yeah, it’s just the first episode, but I can totally see this as the anime of the season.

From the same author of Konosuba (no wonder), he brought us another masterpiece. I was a bit hesitant, at first, because I don’t want to be disappointed. But this one exceeded whatever initial opinions I had for this.

So far, we see the MC, along with a bishounen loli android, they got transported to another planet where they need to observe and see if it could be inhabited by humans from their planet. So far, the adventure they went through this episode was already epic to me, I can’t wait to see more of it soon.

Seasonal Anime Watching: Spring 2021 - What I'll be watching 4

I had more animes that I really wanted to watch like To Your Eternity and Tokyo Revengers, but I decided to put them on hold as I prefer to binge them more. I also wanted to watch more popular titles like My Hero, Shaman King, Edens Zero or the new ones, 86, SSSS.Dynazenon, and Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san but they are not available on Youtube. I might binge them later on after they are finished airing.

As always, I won’t promise a proper schedule in watching these animes but I will put more effort into updating my blog more, so look forward for more posts from me.

Anyway, that would be all for now.

This has been Will Sirius, thank you for reading!!
