RideBack, such an interesting anime to watch

Uuuuwwwwaaaaa….I wasn’t planning on releasing this entry today. But for some point, I was able to finish writing this one while watching an Idol concert. Lol. Silly me.

Anyway.

Another kinda old anime. I already watched this 2 years ago, but just like the Escha & Logy anime, I kinda forgot if I had finished this anime or not. Lol.

So I rewatched this again, this time, in English Dub. For easy watching. And bruh, it was really good.

RIDEBACK

My Thoughts:

Discovering RideBack was a pure chance on my part. Two years ago, I was looking for a short and easy to binge-watch anime in an illegal anime streaming site. And then I saw RideBack, didn’t even hesitate and just clicked it. Hell yeah, I did the right choice.

RideBack anime was about Rin, an ex-ballerina, became intrigued by a robotic motorcycle called RideBack. She then got caught up with the war between the government and the terrorist. Its quite a thrilling and enjoyable anime to watch.

Both the cover pic and the premise of the story made me watch this series. As you can see from the cover pic and the pic above, the vehicle looks really cool and slick, I want to ride one. Oooohohohho.

For me, the series was well-written. It was well-paced and the world building was solid. I couldn’t ask for more. In the first part of the series, the story focused on the mundane and everyday life of Rin as she transitioned from being once a ballerina to a college kid, and her exposure to the world of RideBack. The story then switched to a more serious and darker tone plot, that focused more on the terrorism and politics. To be honest, this two plot points could be stand-alones, but Studio Madhouse was able to mix up the two in a way that its not over the top or out of place. I really really liked it.

Another thing that I like from the series would be the characters. Rin was really likeable and relatable on some ways. I loved her growth throughout the series. I also loved the fact that she acts like a definite 19 y.o girl. You can clearly see how much she struggle with her baggages and how much she tries to be mature even though its quite clear she was still a bit immature on some things. Letting go of the past and trying to stand up again after a failure are definitely hard stuffs to do, and seeing her struggle with those things made her human and relatable. I also want to point out how memorable the other characters are. Even though some of them played only a small part in the story, I could still remember what they did and how they impact the overall anime.

One of the things that made this series unique compared to others was the art and animation. The character design was really unique and its probably my first time seeing that kind of style. I also want to shed light on the beautiful animation. Damn, this was released last 2009 and yet, the quality of the animation was so amazing. The blend of 2D and 3D animation was visually appealing. Its quality even surpassed most of the modern animes. Studio Madhouse did it again. They continue to amaze me with their old anime releases.

The OP and ED were quite the opposite. The OP song was kinda nostalgic, with its music similar to some of the animes songs in the 90’s. Eurobeat-ish music all the way. The ED song, on the other hand, was bit calming and forgettable. Though it did got my attention cuz of the singer. I kinda knew who sang the ED by just listening to her voice, and bruh, it was Younha, a Kpop solo singer and balladeer, one of my favourites. The sound music all through out the series was consistent and good. I pretty much don’t have anything bad to say about it.

Overall, this anime was really great. I really enjoyed watching this again. Definitely an underrated series and I recommend it to all of you. Watch this guys. It’s worth it. 🙂
