La Storia della Arcana Famiglia: After Thoughts

Reading Time: 4 minutes

Hello Everyone! Sirius here!

I shared in my previous anime review that I’ll be focusing more on the animes on my back log rather than the new ones. Why? Well, its not like this summer season sucks or anything, I just don’t have time to watch/stream them so I choose to watch the old ones instead.

I’ll be focusing more on animes I had watched before but wasn’t able to finish. That way, I could feel some accoplishment (at last!) and be able to move on to the animes on my PTW list.

First up, Arcana Famiglia.

The members of their organization, having made contracts with tarot cards, each possess different abilities, such as overwhelming strength, invisibility, or the power to see into someone’s heart.
Mondo, their leader and the “Papa” of their family, announces at his birthday party that he will be retiring soon. He plans to hold the Arcana Duello, a competition that, if won, will grant the winner the title of Papa and any wish they desire. But there is more at stake than just a title: Mondo also decides that the winner will marry his daughter, Felicità. Enraged by this, the strong-willed Felicità decides to enter the competition herself, in order to make her own way in the world. As Felicità battles for her freedom, her competitors battle for her heart. (MAL)

I first stumbled onto this anime after seeing a wallpaper on google, starring the guys of the show. I got intrigued by their looks and their character design, it spiked my curiosity. But, unfortunately, all my positive feelings ends there.

Arcana Famiglia was something I was expecting to be an awesome reverse harem anime series, but it was meh just like the others. The plot was quite interesting but the execution of it was really bad. It had too many fillers and the right plot points were either rushed or not even shared at all. The worldbuilding was nowhere to be found, the sources of their powers is still a bit shady, and I can’t seem to get the purpose of this series, its just what it is. No questions asked, bruh.

I’m not even sure if this series followed its source material (VN) cuz if it does, then sucks to the new viewers Only the fans/the people who played the VN would understand the series. RIP us.

The characters in the story were meh. They were too one dimensional and forgettable. Even the main characters were too generic and typical, it was hard to empathize with them. Still, I did saw some “character development”. But the problem is, once the character starts to develop, the series shifts to another story/arc and it sucks so bad. I tried, I really did, to like any of them, but they are not worth it.

Just like what I said in the beginning, I really like the art and character designs of the series. I admit, it looks generic, but their designs fits well with the ‘personality’ of the character. I like that. The art background was good too. The animation was sub par, though. Compared to the art, the animation fell flat cuz of the limited animation on some parts of the series. It would have been nice if it was consistent and remain fluid all through out the series. Such a shame.

Overall, I definitely won’t recommend this anime, Arcana Famiglia, to anyone. It will only be a waste of time to you and bruh, there’s alot of good animes out there so watch them instead.

That is all.
Thanks for reading.

I kind of have to agree. I didn’t dislike it as much as you seemed to, but it was pretty substance-less and the premise, while introduced in the first episode, is more or less abandoned for a large chunk of the series before it finally gets back to it. A lot of wasted potential in this story.
