Koi to Senkyou to Chocolate (Love, Election, and Chocolate) Anime Review
Another VN turned anime here. To be honest, when I first encountered this anime, I didn’t know this was originally a VN. Damn. This was actually a good one.
KOI TO SENKYOU TO CHOCOLATE
Koi to Senkyou to Chocolate revolves around the childhood friends, Yuki & Chisato, as the former tries (forced…to be exact) to save their Food Club by running as the next Student Council President of their School. Sounds weird yet interesting, right? Indeed, I dived into this series thinking this would be all fluffs and fanservice, but I was dead wrong. It was more.
In the first few minutes of the first episode, we would see someone get shot. I didn’t expect that one….at all. When I saw that scene, I actually stopped the series for a minute then went on to check if I’m watching the right series or not. That series was really shocking. It was even weirder later on, cuz the series went to full slice-of-life(ish) harem comedy type series. The dark tone of the opening scene was gone. wut? It doesn’t make sense, like, at all. Even so, I continued to watch the series. There was something about the series that I can’t seem to drop it.
What I like about the series was the fact that the whole series seemed fluffy and fun on the outside, but it had dark tone that was very subtle but quite impactful at the same time. The more I watch the series, the more I have more questions. But at the same time, those questions does get answered, which made me happy. It also made me understand the characters even more.
The characters were indeed likeable, but only to some extent. Some of them were, forgetful, and not memorable. But there were few who actually stand out. Well, they got the right amount of character growth, so its all good. And oh, by the way, this series has a canon couple. Well, its kinda clear from the start so, the ship’s fate was sealed.
Another thing that I like about the series would be the art. The art looks sophisticated for some reason, but it also looked generic at the same time. Very weird. There were no problems with the animation. It was consistent all through out the series. I also liked the OP & ED of the series. Both were memorable and I’m kinda hooked to them for some reason.
Overall, this series is watchable. Its not bad & its slightly above average, at best. The story was intriguing and interesting. There were times that it was boring, but the good scenes were definitely top tier.
I do recommend this to people who likes to watch animes with so many girls, but still has a canon couple.
That is all.
Thanks for reading.
