Sigh…

From one good’ol classic anime to an almost low average anime is quite a change of pace. I wasn’t planning on watching this after a serious anime like, Witch Hunter Robin. But I did and I’m not that happy about it. -_-

Synopsis: The young succubus princess Astarotte Ygvar hates men. She hates them so much, in fact, that she goes out of her way to surround herself with women, and ends up with quite a collection of ladies with quirky personalities. Unfortunately, her duties as a succubus require her to form a harem of men to replenish her magic.
Astarotte lives a fairly carefree life, until the World Tree opens a path into another realm and swallows up one of her companions. Luckily, Astarotte’s friend returns unharmed, along with a handsome surprise. Naoya Touhara is a man, and a human one at that. He’s perfect for becoming Astarotte’s first male companion, if she can get over her hatred of men and accept him into her life.
Naoya decides to stay in Astarotte’s world and help her on her journey into adulthood, under one condition: he wants to bring his daughter Asuha with him.

Huh….Why did I watch this? I still can’t wrap up my head around this one, its not even a deep anime to begin with.
Anyway.

Astarotte no Omocha was a cute anime starring a 10 year old loli succubus and a 23 year old human. The story looks decent on surface level, but its not. Its too….messy? I can’t seem to find the right term for this. I really dont want to spoil, so I’ll try to keep it vague as possible. The story had no flow…at all. At first, I thought the story was cute and funny, but as the series goes by, it became clear that this anime is not really appropriate. As the tags on the anime info above, this anime is “ecchi” and “romance”, an ecchi animes with lolis…thats not a good sign at all. It became worse cuz the main guy is too old for the heroine and technically, he acts like a father to her than a companion. It was weird to watch, but I still kept on going.

My biggest disappointment to this series would be the wasted potential of some plot points of the series. The overall story is very vague and simple, that means it has alot of possible storylines to be tackled. Rather than choosing the right ones, the story goes in a weird and inappropriate direction, which disturbed me. Yeah, unpredictability of the story would sometimes be an advantage to a story, but in this one, its not. It made me feel like I wasted my time watching this one.

Sigh.

Overall, this anime is not that good. To describe it properly, its an “almost trash” anime.

I really don’t want to recommend this anime to anyone. Its not really worthy of anyone’s time.

This is rather short, but thanks anyway for reading!

  1. Now I feel like re-watching this one and make a recommendation post about it because I liked this back when I watched it (it’s probably been three years since I watched it now) xD
