Animes I recently dropped – August Edition
Here we go again.
Another list of dropped animes. How many times have I made this kind of entry? I lost count. Lol.
Maybe I should do this regularly, like make this as a monthly or bimonthly. I think that would be a good idea.
Now, I will be sharing to you guys a list of animes I recently watched and dropped. With my busy schedule right now, I need shows that would immediately capture my attention even after 3 episodes. I usually hold on to it as long as I can, but these following animes couldn’t appeal to me no matter what.
So yeah, they are dropped.
First up, Devil Survivor 2 The Animation.
The reason I got interested and tried to watch this one in the first place was because of its premise. It was really interesting and I wanna see how it would turn out.
Well, being part of this line up means it definitely went downhill. Indeed.
From its 1st episode, I immediately conclude that this was a bad adaptation, but I still have it a chance, maybe just maybe it would become better as time goes on. But nope. From its rigid animation to it’s bad voice acting performance and bad written characters, it was getting hard to watch.
I couldn’t bear it any longer and just dropped it at the 3rd episode.
Next on the list is Phantom in the Twilight.
I got into this anime after learning that Hanazawa Kana, my favorite voice actress, was voice the main girl. I also find the first episode intriguing, even though the “meh” animation was distracting as hell.
I’ll be honest, I was enjoying this anime a bit. Hanazawa’s delivery was really good even though her character itself was boring and predictable. Atleast she the main girl likeable.
It was the animation and the dragging story that made me drop the anime. Like I said above, Hanazawa’s performance was spot on, but her character’s movements wasn’t. From facial expression to hand gestures, it looked awkward. For the story, it followed the typical “problem of the week” trope. To be honest, I have no problems with this kind of storytelling, but the way they execute it, it made me feel like the story was going nowhere. As much as I want to finish this one, my desire to dropped this was stronger as I dont have any time to waste to this kind of mediocre storytelling.
Okay, that was harsh, but it’s the truth.
I guess, even though we are a huge fan of the VA, if the product is bad, it’s still bad.
Last on my list is a series I really adore, recently, I’m fearfully hating. That is, citrus.
Last week, I shared to you guys my review of another yuri anime, Yagate Kimi ni Naru. I also expressed how much I love the Yuri genre. Yep, I loved it.
Along with YagaKimi, it was also Citrus that fueled my love for it. I adore greatly the manga. Still, that doesn’t mean I would also appreciate much its adaptation.
When the anime adaptation was announced for this series, I was really ecstatic. I mean, one of my favorite yuri manga is getting an anime. YEEEE!!
But everything went downhill the moment I saw the anime adaptation.
I admit, it wasn’t that bad. Adaptation-wise, it was actually on point. Other than the horrible CG of the background characters, I actually liked everything.
What made me dropped and almost hate this series was its story itself.
When this was a manga, I not only loved the story but also its art. The mangaka’s drawings was that good. But the moment I watch the anime, all I could see was how flawed the story was. The mangaka’s amazing art can’t mask anymore how bad the beginning arcs of the series.
It made me cringe. And ashamed of myself.
Still, this doesn’t affect my love for the manga. I will forever adore it. Only the anime. I don’t think I could ever watch it.
With me getting old and having less and less time for animes, dropping some is fairly reasonable. I mean, compared to 3 dropped animes, there are 50 more animes being aired, so I dont think I would experience scarcity. Lol.
Stay tune for next month’s or next next month’s or net next next month’s Dropped Animes Edition, as I feel like I wont be stopping with just these 3 animes. Heh.
Anyway, that’s it for now.
This has been Will Sirius and thanks for reading!!!
