After Thoughts:

With the success of Demi-chan wa Kataritai, Centaur no nayami was one of the slice-of-life type monster anime that I was looking forward to watch last summer. It turned out to be a disappointment. Such a shame.

Why was it a disappointment? Well, first, I hate to say this but it was boring. Unlike the previous half-monster half-human slice of life anime, I felt bored watching this series. Whenever I watch an episode, I end up multi-tasking. My attention wasn’t fully on the episode. I tried to concentrate, but it made me sleepy. There were some moments where I did laugh, even enjoyed some segments but that was it. Nothing special.

Why didn’t I dropped this show? Because I was hoping that it would get better as time goes on. But it didn’t. At least I watched this weekly. If I had binge-watched this anime, I might have dropped this anime early on.

I think the problem lies in the writing. There were some jokes that doesn’t feel like jokes. There was no punchline, and the timing was off. Some jokes makes me go, “huh?!?!”. If they write the jokes better, with the right punch and timing, I would definitely enjoy this show more. I did like how they explain and discuss about the problems demi’s face everyday. There problems were reasonable and sometimes, relatable to us, humans.

The animation was kinda below average compared to the other animes that aired last summer season. The color scheme was bland and not that vibrant. It wasn’t eye-catching. It pretty much contribute to why the show was boring.

The sound and music didn’t help at all. They used music that were either forgettable or not memorable at all. With the bland music in the background, it butchered the hopes in making the jokes in the series funny.

I don’t think I can recommend this anime. This is the type of slice-of-life anime is not for everyone. If watched weekly or every other day, this series might be bearable. But if binge-watched, the possibility of this series to be dropped is really high.

I do recommend this to people who likes to watch monster girls. Even though this is kinda mediocre compared to other animes, its still about monster girls.
